Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours murky pale yellow with a thin white head. Mango on the nose, obvs. Also galia melon and powdered ginger. Taste is light sweet, mango and fresh orange juice. Decent balance to the finish. Easy drinking.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Pours a very fashionable, milky, murky gold. Swirl of fine, white bubbles. Nose has watery orange and lemon. Touch of ripe melon and passion fruit. Add to that a glass of mango purée. Taste has a sweet, and slightly acidic clash of flavour. Minimal bitterness. Quite a thin mouthfeel. Light bitter finish. It’s Halcyon, ruined completely by (what feels like) tipping in harshly acidic fruit juice.

Bottle from Brew Cavern, Nottingham, consumed at home Sunday 23rd April 2017 whilst preparing ’chicken with olives, capers and dates’ for tonight’s tea. Pours orangey gold with a white head, looking closer it’s actually quite murky, yolky yellow. The base beer (I’m presuming that the Halcyon is just added to). I usually get some polish with Mango but not really getting it here, I am getting hoppy burps. The fruit offers a tart slightly unripe fruity edge, there is sweetness but it is not juicy tropical Mango that I get. It’s good but I think I prefer the standard version. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours murky gold, frothy white head. Aroma of mango, distinct sulphur. Taste presents prickly, gooey, sticky mango, zesty exotic pith, pineapple, grapefruit. Unusual for Thornbridge to take this path, rather rich, boozy and over-the-top fruity. Liked it more towards the end of the glass, but not fully won over.

Keg at the Cambridge Blue. Creamy yellow, murk bomb, with a loose white head. Mango and pineapple with an odd bit of sulphur in the aroma. Bitter taste with a fruity and slightly lactic sweetness. Not so intense, quite subtle... Heavy carbonation. Medium body. I love Halcyon but this isn’t really an improvement. Liked it but not quite as much as I thought...

Keg at The Rake. It pours rather hazy golden with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, rather juicy, mango, apricot, persimmon, marmalade, chutney, bubblegum and candied peel. The taste is crisp, pretty bitter, piney, resin, oily, green hops, weed, plenty of zesty citrus action, waxy, peppery spice, mango chutney, apricot and a decent alcohol hit through the finish. Firmly dry on the back end. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather good fun. Tasty and boosty.
