Like a charming lady, Cortigiana uses her weapons to seduce every palate. An Italian interpretation of a Belgian Blanche in perfect Birra Del Borgo style. We use alternative cereals in addition to barley malt: buckwheat, einkorn and a small percentage of oat flakes. The hops are moderate while the spices are generously added during the last step of the boiling: we add a good amount of ginger to the classic coriander and orange peel. The result is a very fresh, smooth and elegant Blanche with a unique aromatic profile.

From 33cl bottle at a bar in Premilcuore, Italy. Pours somehow orange, with grossly grained white foam. Aroma is citrus, spicy, orange peel, and white pulp fruits. Body is average, with good carbonation. Taste is mostly bitter, with moderate sweetness. Finish is rather long and bitter.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Mildly, husky, grassy hoppy, slightly citrusy aroma, unspecific fruitiness. Taste is fruity, grassy, minimally husky and floral hoppy with a touch of citrus, hints of mandarine, mandarine zest, mirabelle.

Bottle, BB 01.2018 (from SIP). Pours hazy golden with whiteish head. Aroma is sweet, lagerish, grainy, malty, fruity. Flavor is sweet and bitter, grains, grass, malt, sugar, some fruits, citrus, apricots, more lagerish notes. Finish has some dryness. Overall: would not call it a saison, but drinks decent nevertheless.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A slightly hazy pale amber pour with a loose white head; citrusy aroma with some yeast; sweet grainy body with a well-balanced grassy bitterness; and a clean sourish finish. A rather good Saison.

330 ml bottle from Taniguchi. Lemony nose, floral, mineral, bit dry and funky. Some veggies as well. Spice, coriander maybe. Sweetish, minerals, dry citrus, Bit bland and flat, oily palate. Definitely missing something. Ok peppery finish with light bitterness, but overall a bit bland.

33 cl bottle at Mamá Cecilia, Alcalá de Henares. Pours hazy pale golden with white thick head. Aroma reminds me of an IPA: grapefruit, mango, passionfruit, bitter herbs. Taste is fizzy, watery, fresh and slightly sour. Very bitter finish. Nice one, easy to drink.
