BBE passed a month before getting this. Obviously still ok to drink. Deep amber colour with some haze. Caramel, toffee, mild toasted and smoky tones with some chocolate and mild 'Belgo-yeasty elements. Flavour is quite similar with quite sweet alcohol elements too.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 21 July 2024) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, liquorice, herbs, anise and coffee. Malty taste with coffee, caramel, cacao, liquorice, herbs, anise, mint and a balanced herbal bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and tasty, with lots of herbs and liquorice, and a gentle alcohol burn. Very nice.

Bottle @ home. Clear, deep, dark amber, almost black body under a fast disappearing beige head. Delicate, mild but complex aroma. Smooth dark malt, dry fruit, licorices and toffee. Taste is super smooth, dark soft malt, dark chocolate, dry fruit, licorices, toffee, port and vinous alcohol. Moderate bitterness. Fine balanced body with long lasting, vinous, fruity and delicate aftertaste. Very nice indeed, sampled one year after bottling date has really smoothen out the alcohol sting, this is just pure enjoyment.
