Wat als je de ingrediënten van de red velvet cake combineert met een Molen stout? De vanille en cacao als basis ingrediënten van de Red Velvet cake zorgen er voor dat de bitterheid van de Imperial Stout wordt afgezwakt en deze een zachtere afdronk krijgt. De kenmerkende geroosterde aroma’s van de stout blijven daarentegen wel intact. Dit in zijn geheel zorgt voor een goede balans van zoet en bitter.

Bottle shared at RJ’s brewpub while prepping minced meat, courtesy of Marko. Quite okay stout all in all, the body is there, it’s medium to full and silky enough, cacao’s obvious and so is the artificial cake but it’s not painful just yet.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Oslo City. The oily pour reveals a pitch black body, scattered lacing from a dissipating tan head. Attractive aromas of cocoa, dark bread, and chocolate, nicely roasted. Solid, well balanced taste of cocoa, chocolate, and dark berry-fruits. Smoothly roasted ending, not overly sweet, long lived, and mouthfilling. Enjoying sipper qualities. (Hotel room, Oslo 18.03.2023).

Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit, chocolate and some vanilla sense. Sweet with a ok chocolate, coffee and fruit end. Full bodied Oslo the midnight concert trip march 2023.

Bottle from somewhere in Leiden. Opaque black brown beer with a big bubbly tan head. A suitably vanilla chocolate and cakey nose. Airy palate, smooth, modest fine carbonation. Taste follows the nose but the dark malts stop the beer getting over sweet. More dark chocolate than milk chocolate. A mellow dark fruitiness coming through on the back end along with cake and vanilla. Smooth and semi dry finish finds the dark malts again wrestling back control. A decent pastry affair that keeps the interest going.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 26.06.2024) im 2022-07 getrunken. Dieses Stout kommt mit einem deutlichen Kakao-Aroma und eine deutlichen Süße daher, die die (Kakao-)Bitterkeit sehr gut ausgleicht. Ein wirklich gutes Stout was aber recht schnell langweilig wird, aber doch auf recht hohen Niveau.
