Sampled from can at "Hooghe Noorden Tasting 2025". Old bottle ,probably 2018 or before. Opaque black color, no head. Smell and taste malts, lightly raisins, nicely bitter, a bit dusty. Slightly oxidized and quite flat, so way past its prime but nonetheless nice to try. Thanks guys!

Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with dried fruits, hops, notes of dark fruits, more caramel, and a hint of liquorice/syrup. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is almost full. Hoppy caramel-forward Barley Wine heading towards liquorice, some fruits, I like it... But what I don't like is the lousy grammar!!

24/XI/24 - 37.5cl bottle @ AV Gentse Biervereniging (Baracuna), BB: II/2023, lot: 086 (2024-1222) Thanks to Erwin (?) for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown beer, practically no head, dissipates immediately. Aroma: lovely, lots of dried fruits, gentle roast, a little oxidized, some vanilla, caramel touch, raisins, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice start, some alcohol, gentle roast, dried fruits, some chocolate, a little bitter, slightly sweet touch. Aftertaste: some vanilla, alcohol, good roast, more chocolate, oxidized, a bit sweet, nice one!
Batch 085. Aged nicely, very smooth but with lots of flavour intensity. Biig maltyness, giving some sweetness and body. Pretty boozy. Nicely bitter, the hop intensity has mellowed but is still there amidst the malt. Good example of style.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, caramel, butterscotch and floral notes in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweet, slightly perfumed and alcoholic. Some herbal notes. Full bodied. Pretty decent.

Bottle at the gekke geit. A very dark barley wine, looks like an imperial stout. Also has a lot of shared flavours with the latter. Lots of dark malts, sweet, figs and plums, roastiness, melasses, caramel. Lovely barley wine, I like these that are Inbetween barley wines and impys. Not too sweet, which I really appreciate. Lovely!

0.375 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', best before February 2023. Clear, very dark ruby, almost black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite resiny, moderately fruity aroma of caramel, molasses, raisins and pine. Quite sweet, malty, gently bitter, fairly resiny and moderately fruity taste of molasses, caramel, lots of pine, raisins and some blackberry, followed by a medium long, very bitter, fairly resiny and slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pretty intense due to the 70 IBU, still highly enjoyable because of the thick maltiness. Maybe not too complex but a saturating sipper, nice!
Caramel, toffee, dried fruit, light cocoa. 3.8
