This Speedway pays tribute to the deep history and vibrant coffee culture of New Orleans. For this brew, we have added coffee and chicory to give a richer, earthier, and nuttier brew to capture the essence of the city's beloved coffee tradition in every sip. Cheers!

Very solid Speedway variant. Plenty of coffee character. Black pour with good mocha head and lacing. Some caramel. Dark chocolate. Light chicory. Bitter ass finish with a hint of sweetness. Can.

11 - 14 July. Holiday retreat at Laon. Cheers! Can from Beer Republic.
Cloudy black, huge, frothy, beige head. Aroma of artisan milk chocolate, fondant sauce, butterscotch, bourbon, vanilla bean, espresso, soy sauce, black olive, beef stew. Taste has sweet raisin & prune in a thick dark-chocolatey, hazelnutty, brown-bready malt body with a touch of caramel and pronounced bitter espresso & umami black olive surrounding it. Peppery & herbal hops in the finish, lingering earthiness of coffee & chicory, some vanilla and warming bourbon-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Rich, full and bitter, an 'old school' Speedway version as it were.

16 oz can shared by Clarkvv. Aroma is soft chicory wood. Nothing else. And the flavor. I have a hard time even funny coffee. And yet again, another thin body. I was so excited for the Speedway tasting, it has gone horribly awry. WTF??

Can (2/20/24) from Total Wine & More, W. Hollywood. Opaque dark brown with light viscosity, ring of head, light lacing. Aroma is chicory, roasted malt. Taste is strong chicory, no coffee, mild nuts. Smooth, relatively thin body, no sign of alcohol, lightly bitter finish as taste. Once again, disappointing.

Canned 2/20/24, shared by tfontana on 6/15/25.
Clear, dark. Small, spotty, light tan head.
Minty, earthy coffee and light licorice or chicory. No booze, low stout and lots of chicory.
Chicory/licorice is strong spicy, and there's no booze. Lots of sugar and adjunct. Too light a body. No coffee and no stout character. Non BA Speedway variants are pretty much garbage I guess.

Can, at the March 2025 DCBeer share. Poured a pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was big roasted malts, big cocolate, coffee - I guess chicory. I'm not too familiar with chicory, only that it's somewhat similar to coffee - they drank it during the Civil War and I know I've had DFH chicory stout. Roasted malt, light bitterness, coffee, mocha. Chicory.

473ml can. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, average to huge, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty and minimally spicy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, coffee, some couverture, mocha, whiffs of chicory. Taste is roasty and chocolately, dark malty, slightly bitter, spicy and salty, notes of dark chocolate, some coffee, chicory; bitter-spicy finish. Creamy to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well crafted, relatively bitter, salty, adjuncts do not carry the most inviting flavours - there's a bulk of better Speedway variants around.

Pint can - nearly black pour - moderate tan lace - a fair amount of chunky black sediment - creamy texture - medium to full body - heavy on the coffee, with a mild astringency from its acidity - chicory adds additional earthiness and bitterness - a bit of underlying vanilla cream and chocolate - lightly astringent finish - it’s okay.

1 pint can. Pours black with full tan head. Aromas of chicory, almonds, black coffee, vanilla, and roasted malts. Flavors of dry black coffee, chicory, and roasted nuts. Clean and dry. Roasty and bitter finish. Very good.
