What kind of madman would cross an imperial stout with a pumpkin ale? Our brewers, as it turns out. This rich, chocolatey frankenbrew is dry-spiced and scary good. Boo.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, small tan head. Aroma of squash, a ton of toasted malt, caramelised sugar and more spices and rich nuttiness than you can imagine - very nice in the nose, for sure. Medium-bodied; Assertive squash flavours and body up front with a little sweetness and caramelised sugar flavour that shows through the spices and light licorice and anise flavours. Aftertaste is spicey and very flavourful with the roasted nuttiness and squash elements front and centre, also showing some sweetness from fruits and caramel as well. Overall, a nice and assertive squash-based beer with tons of spices and flavours with less body than you’d might expect. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Cash Wise Liqours in Minot, North Dakota on 04-October-2016 for US$10,99/six pack, sampled at home in Washington on 05-December-2016.

Sample from the bottle. Pours black, with a medium, frothy, tan head. Mild chocolate, cinnamon, light roast coffee, and pumpkin. Sweet and a bit roasty, with a pretty good hop bitterness that balances it out some. Medium to heavy body, creamy, and thick. This is a fair pumpkin porter, but nothing special.

Black. Low carbonation and not much head. Some pumpkin pie spices, and the roasted character is prominent. Palate is a little thin. Dry. Not as sweet as many pumpkin beers.

Dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, pumpkin spice and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. The finish is sweet with a malt and spice aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle. A- Wood, char, smoke, molasses, subtle spices, cocoa, roasty. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Hickory wood, char, subtle smoke, dry cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- This was an imperial stout mixed with pumpkin? Well it certainly isn’t strong enough to be an impy stout nor do I get any pumpkin. Okay, so I started off on a mean note. It really isn’t that bad. Tastes more like sitting around a campfire, and not a lot of excitement in it but it’s easy to drink.

Sampled from the bottle. Pours a deep brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is a bit perfumey with pumpkin spice supported by dark grains, roast and a hint of anise. Flavor has some anise, dark grain and dry roast with a pumpkin spice finish.

OnTap black...of course. Nice tan head quickly receding to a even sheet of drying lacing. Nice sweet soft roasty aroma with some pumpkin spice...but subtle. Comes out a bit ore in the flavors but this is still a stout with a twist. Not just a dark pumpkin beer. A bump in the OG would make this even better.
