Pipkin pale malt, Crystal malt and maltose syrup. Challenger and Goldings hops. Morland’s original yeast. A quite unique, strong, bottle-conditioned ale with an original gravity of 1059, full of flavour and character with a richly malted aroma and a nice, smooth finish. From a blend of Pale Ale and Crystal malts, this is a rich and satisfying beer with good presentation. A strongish beer in terms of alcohol, but there’s no bite from this Hen’s Tooth!

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of hop, malt, dried fruits and caramel. Rather bitter flavour with notes of spices and booze. Watery mouthfeel and dry finish. Don’t know what to think of it. Not my favourite brew, though.

Nice rich dark brown color, with small head, but leaves sticky lacing on glass. Aroma is whiskey, molasses, oak. Flavor is bitter, nutty, burnt toast. A nice tasty ale....

Clear 500ml bottle, best before Jan 2008, drank March 2007. Poured into a pint sleeve glass (badged: 2004 Cotswold Beer fest). A light chestnut amber with a good white foaming head.with bubbles rising to replenish any head that is leaving. Very little aroma from my bottle or glass, a bit of hops and yeast, but great shakes here. I’ve had this beer twice before and thought it awful (both times years ago), this time however I like it. There is depth and flavour where before there was nothing, a liveliness where before it was dead. Hops and malts aplenty in every mouthfull. Pleased I had this beer again (it was given to me), I shall not be frightened to try it another time.

16oz bottle from Old Towne poured into an English Pint. Pours a clear amber with 3 finger of off-white frothy head. Aroma of grains, caramel, and spicy sour apple. Taste is light sour and light bitter. Taste of sour apple and caramel. Medium bodied with a thick yet oily texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. Especially because I got it on sale for $1!

En söt maltbomb. Mycket kola, kanderade nötter med en mycket värmande alkoholstomme som bär upp och balanserar sötman utan att bli störande.

Incredibly English, better than it should be, and still not truly tickling my fancy. The apple-cider funk of British beer appears immediately, but gets tightened up by a yeast-laced tartness that gives way to a bracing, unexpectedly bitter finish. The cheap, sharp texture proves annoying, but all-in-all this pint turns out a pleasant distraction. (8/08)
