Tasting at Salesforce, bottle
Close to black, burnt terra. Dark caramel, light sweetness, burnt sugar, and some tobacco.
Robust beer, I wouldn't call it Imperial Stout though.

This will be a first for me, a Japanese imperial stout. I found this 33 cl bottle early this year at a Total Wine in Palm Springs. I have a tulip glass to use for the pour, dark liquid of course, black, with a slim skim of light tan foam. Decent scent with some oak, ash and herbs. The taste outdoes the nose. I find bitter chocolate, black licorice, some smokiness, vegetables curiously and a saving-grace jam sweetness at the end. There are better but others not as good.

Bottle from Tokyu Food Show. Very dark brown black, thick golden bubbly creamy head. Aroma is roasty, bit of chocolate, coffee, maybe oaty or grainy. Taste is nice, bit of bitterness, coffee, no sweetness, something bit fruity. Some vanilla maybe. Pretty drinkable, and no hint of the alcohol. Not ultra thick but a bit sticky. Nice though.

330ml bottle, Poured a clear dark brown colour with a round bubbly light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, molasses, soy sauce. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a smooth, roasty, spicy, molasses, warm, light alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Black with lasting dark head. Aroma and flavour have intense roasted bitter malts. Quite burnt. There's a residual background sweetness. That, combined with a slight alco-rawness gives the feeling of a cognac barrel aged beer.

Small bottle. Black with red highlights and a tan head. 3+ Reserved aroma with roast, mocha, cream and spices. Lovely silky texture with low carbonation. Nicely judged Bitter finish accentuates the savouriness of the malty flavours. Spices linger. Another characterful beer from Baird.

Keg at Skaal, CPH, 11/11/17. Black with a well presented tan covering. Nose is chocolate, liquorice, spice, charr. Taste comprises dark malts, mellow roast, liqourice, dried fruits, molasses, toffee. Full body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost. Ok impy stout ... ticks all the style boxes ... just lacks any wow factor.
