Backlog august 2016. Clear reddish body under a small pink head that fades quickly. Aroma of artificial candy berries with a faint hint of malt and yeast. Taste goes in the same direction with artificial berries, anonymous malt and some yeast. One dimensional and boring.

Bottle. A hazy, deep red beer with a small, dense, pinkish white head. The aroma is raspberry dominated, not much else hitting the nose, but I can sense there’s a beer in the back. Whether it’s a pilsner or a saison is totally in the dark though. It’s a bit heavy on the carbonation I think, some kind of hard, small pearls of carbonation that I don’t like much. It’s semi-dry and medium bodied, with a subtle bitterness from the hops, dealing easily with the sweetness left. Even though there’s raspberry acidity, there’s also raspberry sweetness, and a touch of the base beer, but I’d guess a regular Belgian pale ale, not a saison. As it warms up a bit, that impression goes for the aroma as well. A bit dryish, bitter-ish finish, still with the raspberry dominating. Well, this isn’t a beer for me, that’s for sure. Don’t think I would have bought it if I knew it was this raspberry heavy. I mean, raspberries are gorgeous, so are a good saison, but the berries shouldn’t be in complete control over the beer. Almost red color with a pink-ish head. Fine intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Mellow sweetness and a pleasant balanced acidity. Lots of raspberry flavor in this one. Nice and refreshing.

330 ml bottle, from Berentsens Brygghus, Ølutsalget. ABV is 4.7%. Bright red colour, moderate pink head. Strong and fresh aroma of raspberries. Fizzy and a bit watery mouthfeel. The flavour is not as sweet as the aroma made me expect. Raspberries with a very slight acidity, dull finish.

Taste is slightly dry floral, weeds, flowers, hay, raspberry, grass, minerals, yeast, berry skin, grain, paper. Medium bitterness, slightly fresh grassy mouthfeel. Nice.

Flaske fra Vaaland (Bryne), hjemme mens jeg lager lørdagspizzaen: vakker, dyp rubinrød med ok rosa skum. Intens aroma av bringebær (og modne kirsebær). Smaken likeså, med mild bitterhet som sørger for at den ikke blir for søt. En leskende og god sommerdrikk, men den bringer meg ikke videre - saisonpreget mangler slik at helhetsinntrykket blir litt endimensjonalt.

Sample from bottle @ Bergen Ølfestival 2016. Pours light red, with a finger thick creamy, pink head. Aroma is tart raspberries and musty fruits. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart yeast, with musty fruits, raspberries, hay and some grassy notes.
