Traquair's orignal draught ale was bottled for the first time in 1996 and is increasingly popular amonst those looking for lighter ale with the unique Traquair flavour. A rich amber coloured ale with hints of oakiness and strong malty flavours.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 21. Bought from Traquair House gift shop, Innerleithen. Pours a clear deep mahogany, white head. Gentle malty nose. Taste is clean, nicely fresh with rich amber malt, and subtle underlying sweetness. Good bitter overall, prefer mine with a bit more sweetness but no doubt better served fresh on cask.

Bottle at home in Hackney - I think picked up from some online shop years ago. BBE February 2014, drank in September 2020. Pours clear, deep brown with a frothy, off-white head. Rich and malty, moderately sweet, with some grape notes, toasted caramel, modest oxidation. Medium bodied with delicate carbonation. Semi-sweet finish, a little earthy dryness, toasted brown bread, dried toffee, aged berries. Pretty drinkable overall.

500ml bottle: BBE Aug 15, poured into a UK pint sleeve in Dec 14. Nice looking brew, deep amber and clear, the head a full off-white blanket of foam. Malty, peaty and woody in the nose and taste. Slight sourness within the flavours which takes the sweet edge off the maltiness nicely. Good, wholesome feel to this brew, body depth is fine and the whole beer has an uplifting warmth within itβs make up: very drinkable.
