Botle Pours a hazy dingy white/yellow witha quick thin white head. Even thin and quickly dissipating lacing. Lots of fruity yeasty aroma. Flavor is light and sweet and not much of the classic Belgian yeat flavor. Some banana notes witha touch of sweet citrus. Very light palate and softly carbonated. Refreshing on a hot day, not much of a fan though.

Called Celis White. Golden coloured, lightly hazed with a thin white head. Aroma is classic with coriander, cloves, bananas, and curacao. In mouth, a sweet malt with fruity esters, light oily mouthfeel and solvent like, curacao predominates. Big taste from the master in the Big State. On tap at Clark’s Ale House, Syracuse NY, 4$. Hazy blonde with a thick white head. Nice light banana aroma, nice creamy bodied in mouth, with notes of cloves and bananas. Medium bodied. Mondial 2005.

Little bits floating in the light yellow translucent brew. Yeasty, slightly fruity aroma. No bitterness and the flavor reminds me of Yard’s saison. Finish is nice, leaves no unlikable aftertaste like so many others I’ve tasted lately. Bought this at the Beer Store in Moon Twp for $2 a bottle at the recommendation of the owner. Not yer typical pale yellow american beer by any means, has much more personality.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow/gold into a tumbler. Bright white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Medicinial orange and fratroom floor notes. Upfront beer mung which turns slightly sour/citrus and then back to beer mung again. Not like the original at all - major dissapointment in a style made for summer.

Cloudy light golden color with a medium frothy white head. Sweet spiced aroma. Light spiced aroma, slightly sour, but fairly watery.

Bottle. Sweet apricot and clove aroma. Light orange yellow color with small head. Light sour apricot and wheat flavor. Very nice body. I had the Texas Celis white about 15 years ago but don’t remember enough to rate it but this is still a well-made beer - has nice witbier characterics with a unique flavor I’ve never really gotten from other wits. I have been looking forward to trying this one. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright golden color with a small white head. The aroma is strong with wheat, coriander and orange. The flavor is dry and wheaty with a spicy pepper note and fairly strong citrus. The finish is yeasty and musty. A nice example of the style.

Not my style, but even I can tell it’s excellent. A whitish yellow body brings in a fine wheat and creamy taste. More hoppines than in others I've tried in this style, which adds to the citrusy aspect. Also plenty of coriander and grains of paradise spices. A refreshing summer beer dressed up a “special occation” brew.

Just to clarify: Pete Celis’ original operation in Austin, TX was purchased by Miller, which later shut it down because it couldn’t make a megabrewer type of margin. Celis sold the brand to Michigan Brewing, which is now happily turning out this 2003 GABF Gold Medalist. Texas remains their primary market, meaning less for us up north!

Has a lighter, pale straw color, moderate cloudiness. Good amount of white head and a crisp lemon/orange aroma. Tastes of lemon and coriander, with some bitter orange notes and even some yeast flavors. Has a medium body and a very even, fresh flavor. The balance on this beer was wonderful, and it was able to provide ample flavor, while not being too heavy. Has the usual clove and banana but it is not overpowering. Not as much yeast or flavor as Oberon, less sweet and more balanced than Whitsun, alot like a Hoegaarden without the candy sweetness and huge coriander flavor. I thought this beer had a perfect balance between some of the heavier wits out there and some of the flavorless/watery ones. Very refreshing. Rerate. Bottle. Maybe it's just because I'm trying an older bottle versus my previous summer tap experience, but this isnt quite the same, a more sour old flavor, less body and a muddled light banana/clove flavor. Not as impressive, but I'll try it again next summer.
