This is the second edition of our dry-hopped red beer, Clomp. Amazingly, it is now more than three years since the first one was released. We had always been intending to make this beer again, and happily we were presented with suitable barrels this year. We are pleased to be able to release a red beer for Autumn, perhaps more suitable than releasing Mesh, a black beer, during July's heatwave?!

This blend was made from two brews produced in May 2019 and June 2020. Fermentation took place in red Bordeaux barrels for three and two years respectively. The rich red beer benefitted from a fairly long time in barrel to build the acidity and tannin required to balance the sweetness of the malts. To enhance the bright fruit aromatics present in the base beer, the finished blend was dry-hopped with whole-leaf US grown Chinook, from the latest harvest.

The finished beer conditioned in bottle for a (relatively) brief four months before release, to allow enjoyment of the fresh the hop aromatics. As with all our dry-hopped beers, these aromatics will evolve quite dramatically over time.

Bottle, 75cl, at Telford's. An unclear reddish brown beer with a dense, creamy off-white head. Lacing. Super-perfumed flowery aroma with a light funk. Some malts and a touch of caramel and bread. It's lightly tart and medium bodied, nicely carbonated. Funky flavor with some malty notes. Fruity, lightly flowery. Lasting finish. Pleasant indeed. 240710

Bottle. Mills online shop. Soft haze on a deep amber red. Thin fairly dense off white foam is lasting and slightly leggy. Nose has juicy fruity hedgerow hop leaf. Fruity red wine. Wet oak. Some new leathery brett. Taste is juicy and tart. Hint of hop spice. Big juicy palate with foamy carbonation. Tart and fresh juice to finish. Lovely gear. --- Beer merged from original tick of Clomp - Blend Two on 22 Feb 2025 at 19:51 - Score: Appearance - 9 | Aroma - 8.5 | Flavor - 8.5 | Texture - 9 | Overall - 9.
