Can from Sainsbury’s. Clear golden body with a white head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grass, boiled green vegetables and watercress. Flavour of grain and raw potato. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Clean and well rounded.

The night before my first National Winter Beer Festival in over a decade, so looking for a few easy scoops this evening as not to spoil anything for tomorrow. Starting then with this quite malty craft lager, and quite deep tasting too.

Can from Sainsbury's online. It pours clear golden - blonde with a decent white head. The aroma is toasty grain husks, some hay, nuttiness, cereal, biscuity malt and grass. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, touch of bitterness, straw, grass, peppery spice, toasty.grains, nutty, floral, slightly soapy accents and bitter lemon peel with a drying, spicy finish. Lighter body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough.

Picked up from a random offie in Stoke Newington. Pours clear yellow, lightly effervescent, with a bubbly-fluffy white head. Lightly sweet with notes of fresh white bread, biscuits, hay, a little cereal. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Fairly sweet finish, more bready biscuits, low bitterness. Tasty.

Keg @ The White Hart, Wells. Clear gold with a good pure white head that sticks around. Vibrant lager malt sweetness on the nose. Continues to form a beautifully sweet, full bodied lager to taste, plenty of bready malt, distant floral tones. Very satisfying, nicely rounded lager.

On tap at The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer Bristol. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Yep not a bad stab at a Czech beer. Malt is about right. Good hop finish. Yep fairly simple but fine. A little sharp I guess. Fine.
