A complex symphony of roasted, smoky flavours!
Our Smoked Porter keeps you warm and toasty no matter the weather. This rich and fulsome ale is inspired by Ontario's North Country. Roasted Bamburg Malt is reminiscent of the warmth of a camp fire on cool fall nights. The malts are carefully smoked over toasted beechwood for rich espresso and coffee notes balanced by hints of maple and smoked peat on the finish.
There's no need to be afraid of the dark with our rich Smoked Porter. The smoking process creates a smooth body with no bitter aftertaste.
Our Smoked Porter is a smooth 6.5% ABV and 27 IBU. Pairs it with a range of hearty foods like strong cheese, beef stews, and game meats like venison. It's a delicious dessert when accompanied by dark chocolate.

473mL can, pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma has soft toasted malt and some earthy notes. Flavour is very weak, with toasted malt and a hint of watery cocoa. Extremely thin and watery. Not really any smoke. Pointless, watery creation, but inoffensive.

Dark brown. Not much head. There's a lot of smoke on the nose, with some almost like a french toast character, a bit of grain and sugar. On the palate, it's thin, again with a lot of smoke, low bitterness, and not quite enough sugars.

Poured from 473mL can (bb 28 Apr 2026; thanks mom). Dark brown with minimal off-white head. Feint soured smoked roast malt, just a hint of chocolate, a bit thin, disappointing. Average.

Bottle at the Sudbury beerfest. The pour was a clear, dark brown, with a minimal beige head. Medium smoky aroma, a little bacon, and some touches of soy. The carb was soft, and the mouth feel a touch watery. The finish is very nice, some good smoke, but the roast is lacking for a porter. Some slight nuttiness, with more smoky bacon, and roasted wood. The smoke is there, but the porter aspects i found a bit lacking. Its more of a smoked nut brown, if you ask me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Blacksmith Smoked Porter on 28 Feb 2025 at 06:48 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. This porter poured a deep blackish amber with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include malty caramel, cardboard, light smoke and a little cocoa. First swig was bold and delicious with flavours of smoke, caramel, mild cocoa and coffee. Finish was burnt with flavours of smokey, heavy toasted malt lingering. --- Beer merged from original tick of Highlander Blacksmith Smoked Porter on 10 Jan 2014 at 17:18 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Chocolate malt and hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Mildly sweet, lightly smoky chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Okay body. Very light smokiness.

A deep dark porter with a very thick creamy lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, OK. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, light peated notes, OK. Bottle bb Feb 2014.

Blacksmith Smoked Porter 6.5% Cola black in color with red highlights and an aroma of roasty chocolate. Where's the smoke? The taste is nutty chocolate and oats. Alright but so not smokey. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Bacony smoked malts and some dark fruit. Jet black with a rich beige head. Roasted malts, burnt toast and some chocolate. Not much smoke in the taste, but still nice.
