Wax-dipped bottle - pours nearly black, fairly slick - deep chocolate, coffee, and smoke - sweet without being cloying - warm without being boozy - the oak and cognac add depth and complexity without overpowering - dark fruit, light spice, lingering smoke - delicious.

Pour at Dark Fields of Winter. Pours black with tan head. Aroma chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Flavour has coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, and a slight lingering bitterness. Flavours very well-balanced. Fantastic.

When you get a stout like this. You realize how big difference there is between a solid nice and an average impy Solid power evening sipper. Dangerously easy to drink Complete black pour and a fine beige head Pleasant intensity in the aroma Very balanced sweetness for a beer like this Tad to rich carbonation level. But it can be fixed Dark malt, kind of fruity, chocolate, some roast, toffee and some espresso in the flavor [Bottle from Vinmonopolet Amfi Borg in Sarpsborg, Norway]

Beer #9 of my 10,00th Beer Milestone Celebration! Super deep, basically pitch black coloured body with a bright oily glow and a super thin, single centimetre tall rich deep brown head that fades fast and leaves not much of a sign at all that there is movement here in the slightest - pretty rich and deep, but no carbonation evident (although it is there). Aroma of super strong vanilla, lactose, roasted oats, chocolate, oak, alcohol, metal and a huge hit (for the better) of actual cognac and deeper brandy notes with a big boozy scent. Full-bodied; Super rich of course with a ton of alcohol, roasted malts, oatmeal and graininess here along with a big kick of oak, cedar, wood, fudge, marshmallow and yes - more cognac - this is strong. Aftertaste shows a great rich, oily body of roasted malts and oatmeal with a ton of earthiness here along with a pungent bite of the oak and cognac with the boozy, strong finishes quite noticeable here along with a light sweetness of caramelised sugars, toffee and yes, more marshmallows and fudge. Overall, this is quite a strong beer, as expected and while it goes down pretty easily, it still shows a good deal of pungency, alcohol astringency and richness with the oak and cognac front and centre. I liked this a lot and perhaps from looking at the ratings while trying to align the beers against my 10k beer celebration, I was hoping too much for this one. It's great, but not amazing nor worthy of trying to go all in on a single beer. Great to have in general, but don't save it for THE beer of the celebration (i'm glad I didn't). I sampled this 33 cL bottle as Beer #9 [of 21 - 10 (for 10,000) of Each side of the 10,000 Beer Milestone and the 10,000th itself!] of my 10,000th Beer Milestone, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 05-May-2018 for US$7,49, with a 'best by' date of 14-March-2020 (bottle/batch???) #405 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 09-May-2023, just over five years after purchase.

Poured from the tap (side by side with Öö and Öö X). Black with small tan head. Definitely the worst of the three. Feint roast, mild fruitiness, barely getting any of the cognac here. Average.

Aromas are roast, dark malt, leather, and a little molasses. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, better, super smooth and great balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Body is dialed in. Don't really pick up on the cognac though. Or the alcohol. Very nice.

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Jet black body with a lacing brown head. Aroma and taste of nutmeg, cocoa, cognac, burnt sugar and some cinnamon. I like this beer a lot. Smooth, warming, complex. Yummy.

AROMA- cognac, alcohol, chocolate, cocoa nibs, coffee, hazelnuts, nougat, touch of black currant and licorice. FLAVOR- smooth, a bit sweet, lightly bitter, lightly warming, dark sugar, prunes, plums, cherries, cognac, dark grapes, alcohol, caramel. Fuller bodied. Really good.
