A Sweet and Savory Treat

Introducing KBS Double Oaked. Our original KBS stout, brewed with coffee and chocolate, is aged for one year in select bourbon barrels, which introduces subtle notes of vanilla, cocoa and charred oak. After the aging is complete, we then finish KBS on fresh oak to amplify these flavors – thus creating KBS Double Oaked. Truly a sophisticated beer tailored for bourbon and beer enthusiasts alike.

One of the best variations of KBS, mainly because it sticks to the original recipe and ups the oak. Lots of bourbon and wood, lots of coffee and cocoa, lots of goodness. Awesome pint.

Bottled 9/25/24, drunk 12/5/24. Dark. Clear. Massive, tan head, good retention. Bit of oak tannin, almost sour, with bitter cacao and more oak. Chocolatey malts behind it, nothing fudgey or roasty. Light alcohol warmth, maybe a touch sharp on the very end. Yet it's not BAD. Lingering bourbon-soaked cookie. Tannic oak up front is acidic, drying, outdoing the malt which needs to be deeper, fudgier, chewier, sweeter, even. Lingering oak again. It's too prevalent. A mouth full of oak here...Not boozey, just oaky. Not sharp, really, just dry and tannic without any sumptuousness from the malt.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of woody oak, dry dark chocolate, black coffee, and roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional vanilla and dusty oak. Cannot get much bourbon and maybe a bit too much oak that distracts rather than adds. Still - very good.
