2008 version does not contain brett like the later versions does.
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser.
This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery.

From Feb 2008
Purchased from South Bay Drugs & Liquors.
This one pours from 750ml caged and corked bottle a hazy straw yellow with a 2 finger head of foam that shrinks some but the retention is firmly in the "+good" category and look at all that lacing! After the second pour, I have a nice cloudy glass of Carnevale and that's the way I like it for the style. ;^)
The smell has a lot of good funk to it along with some pronounced grapefruit, and wheat. Smells....very inviting!
The taste pretty much reflects the nose. Wheat, grapefruit, pepper, and that funky goodness that I always look forward to tasting in a Saison. Yum.
More sips in and I notice some tropical fruit notes but the Brett working its magic is what I enjoy the most. Highly drinkable, medium mouthfeel, and the carbonation is lightly done.
Bottom line: This Saison is hitting my taste buds really well and I look forward to drinking it again. My thanks to Joey for grabbing some for me!!

Sampled 7/19/2008 Pours a slightly cloudy golden straw color with a fluffy white head that sticks around forever. Aroma is sweet malt and spicy Belgian yeast. I don’t get much of the American hops that they talk about on the bottle. Taste is overpowered by the spicy Belgian yeast, Slightly sweet honey type malt in there too, its really tasty and complex. Medium to thick mouthfeel. Ample carbonation. Great brew, a bit Belgian spicy, feels heavier than it is, but very tasty.

19th April 2008 Clean tasting ale with a creamy frothy head. Wheat beer style fruitiness but slightly marmaladey. Semi bitter finish that is dry. Coriander tones throughout. Refreshing.

750 ml bottle graciously sent to me by Sparky27. Pour is slight haze golden orange, with a smallish white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of fresh grainy resin malt, clove, some bright yeastiness. Taste is mostly about the clove initially, followed by some apricot sweetness and a very grainy wheatiness. There is also grass and a hint of barnyard going on in the back. Palate is medium, low carbonation. Very dry and grainy finish, some residual clove. Nice Saison, gets a little dusty in the finish. Thanks for sending this my way, Eric.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown corked bottle this beer poured a very cloudy honey color with a small white head. The aroma was crisp sweet citrus and pear. The flavor was crisp, tart, bitter and hat notes of pear and nutmeg. The finish was tart, dry and spicy. Ok.

Bottle thanks to gorditoabd. Pours a very cloudy light orange. I can’t believe how little light is coming through this. Aroma is straight funk with just a hint of lemon and spice. Flavor is sweet fruit (oranges, lemons and pears) with a bit of barnyard funk and a spicy finish. Mouthfeel is very creamy, which is really odd, but enjoyable.
