For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser.

This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery.

Le Carnevale!

From bottle #1 at sk8vikings American blind tasting. Pours hazy yellow to orange with a lacing white head. Mild spiced, light hoppy and belgian yeasty aroma. Flavour starts light acidic and spiced. Mild bubblegum note following and with a lasting light spiced note joining in. Ends wheaty and slight dry and mild spiced. Light yeasty finish.

Bottle Pours out a cloudy straw topped with a small head. Aromas of citrus and spice. Tast of yeast, pepper, clove, and a little apple. A very tasty Saison. Thanks Jake

Bottle: Dusty blonde / golden pour with a small white head. Nose is lemon and citrus with spices, some florals, and overall crisp. Tastes more spicey with some light yeast. Cinnamon, cloves, a little floral and fruity. Somewhat dry and a bit tart. Nice.

Pours with a small, off-white head covering a murky golden yellow body. Good lacing, light retention. Aroma is fruity (melons, mangos, apples and parsimmons), spicey (cinnamon, light pepper, and nutmeg) and yeasty. Taste is spicey and somewhat dry, finishing slightly fruity and completely refreshing. Tastes more of a spicey Belgian blonde, than a saison to me. Very clean tasting, and nothing too funky with the yeast (fine by me). Small, lively bubbles, with a dry mouthfeel.

Pours amber/gold into a tulip. Fluffy conglomerate head with medium retention leaves sheet lacing as it recedes. PIne and lemon aromas. Crisp and clean with upfront sour citrus and a lasting pepper and hop finish.

Thanks to riversideAK for sending this one in a recent trade. This hazy, light gold brew sits under a thin white head. Typical funky Belgian aroma. Moderate sweetness in the flavor, some spicy notes as well.

Cloudy and pale. Crazy, fruity and a little bit footy nose. Soft, spicy body, heavy on the yeast notes. Sweet, with a nice kiss in the finish of malt. Fairly simple overall.

Draught Fully hazy orange beer with an ochre shine; very slim white head. Very estery, meaty ester, fruity, citrussy, spicy and even vegetable - everything. A bit of a jumble. Citrus, orange, coriander; good sweet-sour balance, but again high temperature fermenting signs. Would be a lot more refreshing with less coriander, IMO. Not my L.A. favourite.

Bottle shared by Odeed; Nose of ;ight funk and spices; clear dark gold with a medium off-white head; Flavor lightly spiced with coriander, citrus, and some very light tartness; finish was very light hop bitterness with some of the coriander sticking around.

Thanks to toncatcher for this - very cloudy golden, almost wheat beer looking saison - a lot of musty and grainy wheat beer like components in the aroma as well, with some lemon and orange zest, mild spices, and high yeastiness - fairly dry and bitter, with the bitterness coming in equal part from american hops and various bittering herbs and flowers - the floral bitterness gets very potent, and not much else is allowed to come forward - light citrus, some apple, banana, and yeasty/doughy flavors - strong, dry bitterness in the finish that starts to taste a bit like aspirin - sub par for this brewery.
