2008 version does not contain brett like the later versions does.
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser.
This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery.

Bottle courtesy of Kegbear: Poured a bright golden yellow color ale with a pure white large foamy head with great retention and perfect lacing. Aroma of European dry hops with light notes of Brett. Aroma of dominated by European hops (Saaz?) with some light bretty notes and some distinctive Belgian malt. Taste is also dominated by some dry hoppy notes with a nice Belgian malt backbone. I didn’t notice as much ester as I would have expected but I still quite enjoyed this one. Full body with great carbonation and no alcohol note whatsoever.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Orange gold pour with a creamy 3-finger white head. Aromas of oranges and lighter fruits like apricot and cherries or raspberries. A good funk arises as the head slowly collapses. Medium plus body with creamy smooth carbonation. There is kandi, citrus, berry and something like noble hop grassiness. It seems sweet, but then you realize it’s very dry. The funk is rather mild, but certainly is the major interest, right next to the hop. There’s also some clovey yeast spice which is more noticeable toward the finish. It is quite drinkable and most excellent.

A dry saison. Moderate fruit and yeast in the flavor. Aroma has some spice and wild yeast. It is just a little sour. One of the better beers I have had from Lost Abbey.

Pours clear gold with thin white head. The aroma has layers of fruitiness with orange peel, hints of lemon, apricot, apple and along with assorted spices like coriander, cinnamon and a hint of earthiness. The taste is fresh and nearly bright with apples, orange peel, tasty yeast spices and some lemon like acidity. I struggle a bit to get a grip on what’s going on here due to the blended and seemingly complex flavor notes.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Aroma of malt, spice, and citrusy hops. Grapefruit hop flavor with peppery spice and slight herbal notes. Medium body. Grapefruit, malt, spice, and a bit of earth linger. Grapefruit and peppery spice/yeast just aclash a bit too much.

Bottled - tasted blind. An unclear golden beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of yeast as well as medium notes of fruit - citrus fruits and peaches. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of wheat, yeast, and fruit - especially citrus fruits, leading to a dry bitter and lemony finish. The body is good.
