On tap at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A black beer topped by a cute, tan head. Boozy, whisky I guess, nose with dark, roasted malts, notes of dried fruits, hints of licorice and a faint coffee scent. The flavor has a pleasant whisky-touch, with roasted malts, hints of dried fruits and both hoppy and coffee-like bitterness. Full-bodied, smooth, dry and slightly warming. A bit more boozy and dry than I would like it, but really nice. 091023

Black with a small tan head. Perfumed vanilla-dominated oak aroma. Dry and somewhat thin roasted malt flavour ith lots of oak character. Tannins may make it appear thinner than it is.

Draught at EsBF09. Good vinous aroma, some vanilla. Black colour. Small stable brown head. The flavour is nicely vinous with a distinct vanilla note. The bitterness is a bit rough, like very hard roasted malts. I would have preferred some more sweetness. Much too hard roasted, and too dry.

Handbottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is quite powerful with notes of vanilla, wood, soy sauce, roasted malt, oatmeal, and a bit of whiskey. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of whiskey and roasted malt as well as medium notes of alcohol, soy sauce, roasted malt, wood, and oatmeal, as well as light notes of vanilla, leading to a dry finish, where the alcohol makes it presence known on the palate, but at the same time the mouthfeel is a bit weak - maybe due to a low level of residual sugar. Huge thanks to yespr for this.

From tap at YNWA. Pours dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, hoppy liqourice and chocolate. Bitter, dry roasted and nice bitter flavoured. Subdued sweetness and chocolate roasted malt notes. Light yeasty fruity notes showing through. Ends dry and mild acidic from the hardroasted malt. Lingering chocolate and hoppy bitter finish. Nice one.
