Encountered under its apparent alias Cuvée Gerpinnoise Blonde in a shop in Walcourt in the Condroz region of Namur, Belgium. Egg-white, thickly moussy, irregularly but thickly lacing, closed and stable, thick head on an initially clear golden blonde beer with warm orangey 'old gold' hue and lively, yet sparse sparkling, misty orangey blonde with sediment. Aroma of old polyester doormats and worn-out rubber, instant green soup, apple peel, frozen parsley, plaster, dried out white bread, unripe banana, plastic bags, dried glue and of course old dusty coriander seed - in all, not very inviting to say the least. Sweetish onset, apricot, pear, pineapple, with slight sourish undertone accentuated by very lively, if medium-bubbled, minerally carbonation; both the sweet overtone and sourish undertone continue over a cereally, cracker- and old Betterfood cookie-like maltiness with sharper grainy edges, the sweetness reinforced by honeyish residual sugars till the very end - even when coriander spiciness and a floral, grassy hop bitterishness show up, the overall sweetishness remains. Slight metallic accent somewhere too. Aimed at the undiscriminating masses of 20th-century style Belgian beer drinking, sweet, coriandered and spritzy, but not free of off-flavours and boring to death. Sorry Silly, you can do better than this!

Cette Cuvée Gerpinoise ne restera pas mémorable. Arômes simples et déséquilibres réels en font une bière peu intéressante. En verre, nous sommes sur un blond doré limpide (EBC aux alentours de 17) mais l'effervescence peu poussée ne nous donne pas le droit à de la mousse. Le nez est quai inexistant. A peine arrive t on à déceler de petites effluves de céréales et de coriandre. L'attaque se porte sur un trio miel coriandre et céréales. Légèrement houblonnée, l'équilibre est alors respectable. La deuxième bouche, sur la même base aromatique, monte légèrement en amertume. Malheureusement, les choses commencent à se compliquer avec l'arrière bouche déséquilibrée et s'intégrant mal à l'ensemble. Celle-ci n'est d'ailleurs pas très aromatique, avec une amertume modérée et une présence acide peu appropriée. La troisième monte de façon surprenante sur l'alcool qui fait d'ailleurs plus que les 7,2 % Abv de la bière (on est plutôt sur un ressenti d'un bon 9% Abv) avant un final, astringent, qui en plus de l'alcool présente des arômes de coriandre. Pour soirée entre pote...pas plus.

Bottle, 1.5 liter. Hazy blond colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Sweet fruity nose. Notes of citrus. Light bitterness. Ok beer.

25 cL bottle as Cuvée Gerpinnoise Blonde. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild malty and light herbal. Sweet malty and mild metallic. Light yeasty. Sweet and toasted malty finish. Somewhat oxidised.

Clear golden to orange beer, white aery head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: spices, sweet malts, grains, some hay, bit sugary. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: malts, grains, milk chocolate, sugary, pretty bitter and spicy. Aftertaste: sweet malts, bitter hops, quite some spices, bit of sugar.

bouteille 25cl affichant 7,5%, une bouteille qui présente un peu d’age, environ 2 ans. Couleur dorée, mousse blanche avec pas mal de morceaux sédiments levure flottant. Arôme, un nez qui a un très bon côté caramel, sucré avec un profile malté. Nez rappelle une odeur de pâte à gaufre et speculoos, aspect frais et organique avec un houblon fleuri qui malgré l’age est toujours présent. En bouche, le malt grillé domine la dégustation, et ajoute un note subtile et délicieuse de sucre brun, caramel et presque café avec un fini léger de malt pils. Reste herbacée avec un houblon léger.

Quite good and dense off-white head over metallic yellow beer. Alcohol, toast, milkpowder; rather aggressive vegetable smell. Very similar taste: sharp veggie, toasted, false bitterness (=none hoppy), underlying restsugars. Aggressive, near astringent MF, medium bodied & quite slick. Not very enjoyable. Probably labelbeer for St. Ghislain blonde, Double Enghien blonde, La Divine Double blonde, etc.

Blond ale, hazy. Simple aroma, a bit spicy. Good malty body, a bit sweet and corky. Ordinary hop and palate.
