Can from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Thick maple with roasted malt, caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, fudge, chocolate. Sweet flavour, light bitter, a little booze. Full body. Sticky maple.

A black beer with a tan head. Aroma of very sweet strong dark malt, chocolate, maple syrup. Taste of sweet chocolate, coffee, some maple syrup, strong and sticky finish.

330ml can. Pours black with a big brown head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, maple, fudge, liquorice. Taste is rich, chocolate, cocoa, maple, fudge, caramel, liquorice, strong roasty bitterness, a little booze. Full bodied.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Near opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Good dark chocolate malts, a little dark malt cream. Quite a spicy mid and a little bitterness creeping in from somewhere. Mild candy fruits and then some obvious maple but, thankfully not too sweet or cloying. Light smooth finish. Nicely rich without getting over sweet.

Can at home, picked up from HOTM online, 24/02/24. Black with a big old dirty tan head that stays for the show. Nose is big on roast malts, charr, spice, herb, cacao nibs, cake mix, brown sugar dusting, liquorice. Taste comprises roast malts, charr, spice, booze tunes, balanced maple syrup, earthy fruit rinds, burnt toffee, ashen nip. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a good roasted cloak allied to a balanced kiss of alcohol. Tidy enough pastry affair ... the depth of flavour doesn't blow you away or particularly wow you but it does have a good bitter background to balance the maple syrup and stop it from going silly sweet.
