Island Street Porter is a carefully crafted, velvety, delicately bitter porter with just a hint of sweetness. Eight different malts combine to suggest dark chocolate, coffee and black cherry. While the aroma pleasingly suggests Black Forest gateau.

Cask at London & North Western, Birmingham. Dark mahogany with small beige head. Plenty of dark chocolate, dark malt, dark fruits, some modest fruity and herbal hop. Quite a creamy mouthfeel. Tasty.

Cask @ Art Picture House, Bury. Very dark red with an off-white head. Fair dark malty nose but it's real pleasure is its developing chocolate in its aftertaste.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s liquorice and dark fruits in the aroma plus some hints of malts. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a creamy texture. Roasted malts and liquorice in the flavour, plus plums and cola to a lesser extent. Later on there are traces of chocolate and nuts, leading to a somewhat fruity finish. This is rather nice.

Cask-conditioned at the Robert Fitzharding (JDW), Bedminster 1/11/2024. Near black in colour, with a tight, off-white, head. Plenty of chocolate and caramel character, with some jammy sweetness and some roasted malts in the finish. Enjoyable.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A glossy dark mahogany coloured pour with a tight chocolate coloured head; rich malty caramel aroma with a little spice; taste to match and a syrupy body; then a dry spicy bitter finish with a touch of chocolate. An excellent Porter.
