The West Coast IPA is a modern classic that changed perceptions of what beer could be, and paved the way for today's craft beer scene. Our own approach is informed by experiences working with trailblazing brewers and diving deep into their celebrated beers, so this delivers the hallmark layered bitterness and a clean, dry, resinous finish alongside punchy flavours provided by a blend of modern and classic hop varietals.

Can. Light haze on this gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Light maotts provide some sweetness but nowhere nesr enough to combat the citric peel bitterness on this one. Like taking a bite on some fresh orange and pink grapefruit peel. Smooth pine delivers some relief and there is a trace of sweeter tropical fruits but overall this is a bitter bastard, a little too much so.

(473ml can from Mikkeller Webshop) Pours clear amber with a tight stable eggshell head and lace. Notes of sticky orange marmalade and zest, some grapefruit, sweet bready malt with a bit of caramel, resinous pine, mid-sweet on the nose and through to mid-sip, warming from either booze or just resinous hop heat, becoming rather drier with quite high resinous and fruity bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, a bit oily, softly carbonated. Resolutely old school in this juicy era, but well-made all the same and a good 'pizza beer'.
