Prodigal is an imperial oatmeal milk stout with a massive fudge and roast malt character. It’s a foundation for some of our favorite stouts, now here to stand on its own adorned with only a handful of cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans to round out the edges.

(473ml can from Glasbanken) Pours pitch black with a big medium brown head and spotty lace. Aroma of creamy cocoa, dark malts with quite some rather acidic roast, some molasses and caramel, tang of smoke, soft vanilla, licorice hints, but particularly a choc and malt affair. Flavour of sweet dark malt, dark caramel and a little molasses, chocolate candy, a little sweet cream, vanilla around the edges, hints of roasty acidity but not as pronounced as the nose, soft anise towards the finish. Finish is semi-sweet, light alcohol drydown, very low bitterness with a bit of cacao and roast. Medium-full creamy body. Solid base stout, adjuncts are rather secondary but I think that's the point. Nice but not as good as the variations Perennial spins with it.

Can, from City Hops. Pours inky dark brown with large spongy tan head, very faint caramel-molasses aroma, low carbonation, sweet mocha-roasted malt-fudge taste, thick body, long finish. Very fulfilling, a bit too sweet but very drinkable.

Not far into the anual tasing, and this added to the strong start.Near black in color with a small cap of beige head. Roast grains with a hint of smokiness. Dark seni-sweet chocolate, anise, raisins, milk. Another great Perrennial stout.

Pour is a thick black motor oil with a fairly large tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, fudge, cream and alcohol. Flavor is more fudge and chocolate with some bitter sweet chocolate left on the tongue as this goes down. Super thick mouthfeel that is like drinking Hershey chocolate syrup with some alcohol in it. Superb Impy stout with loads of chocolate and tons of malt that is neither sweet nor bitter.
