Critically Endangered is an imperial version of the first beer that Neon Raptor ever released - Endangered. This beer is brewed with huge amounts of malted barley (7 different grains), so much so that we had to mash twice just to produce a small batch! It is hopped with German and British varieties for balanced bitterness and supporting flavour. It is then matured on more than double the amount of vanilla than its little brother, american oak and Kentucky bourbon.

There is no need to age this beer, we have done that for you.

Appearance: Dark brown. Moderate high head. It will stay with us till the end of the glass in the corners. Lacing is a nice thing in here. Looks as a fizzy thing - but it is not as much

Aroma: Not very intensive but a nice one. First a lot of roasted malts, chocolate and cacao. Just a pinch of wood, vanilla and bourbon. Smell is very " heavy", more dry then sweet.

Flavour: Surprise. Taste is not following the nose. First impression is that tha liquid is very sweet. Even one - dimension thing. Bit syrupy. Later on I can sense wood ( oak ? ), nuts ( wallnuts ? ) and some spices. In general the influence of the barell could be bigger. So as bitter counter. Slightly artifical. A bit of coffee

Texture: Sticky, oilly, thick. Like I wrote before - medium carbonation. Nice long finish. Alcohol is masked really well in here. Warming

Overall: Then I drunk it first time - I almost fall in love. Now when, I am analyzing it step by step - I see some minuses. It is still a very good beer. Maybe too much one directed one. Maybe more comes into stout then porter. Anyway - I enjoyed it alot.

11th June 2019; Shrewsbury Beer Exchange meeting in Chez Sophie, cheers Mike for the 330ml bottle. Pours black with a tanned top. Oaky, boozy with a smooth, viscous body, the malts give loads of chocolate and vanilla aromas and flavours. Nice!
