Keg at Craftsman Company, Abz. It pours lightly hazy deep brown with a medium frothy deep beige head. The aroma is toasty, bitter - sweet, charred pine, earthy roast, dried and dark fruits, twist of citrus, fruit cake, coffee grounds and dull smoke. The taste is dry, toasty, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, bitterness is punchy and lingers... charred, peppery spice, pine needles, waxy citrus, pithy, zesty, burnt pine, cacao nibs, coffee grounds, floral accents and umami with a toasty, spicy finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. As usual Kernel packs a lot into their dry stouts. Interesting, good depth and rewarding. Tasty stuff.

Stout + centennial = tru love. Almost complete black color with a fine beige head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a fine mellow carbonation. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Semi dry texture. Chocolate, some roast, mild coffee, pine and a pleasant hoppy touch in the flavor. Flavor last a long time in the back of my mouth. Ahhh one more please. [On tap at Schouskjelleren in Oslo, Norway]

Creamy tan head stayed on a dark mahogany coloured still body. Malt, iron & rye aroma. Medium bodied, soft over the tongue with lively clean back. Malt, berries, tobacco & roasted tastes with light citrus finish & burnt aft. Very nice!

Bottle at home, 31st May 2020. Pours a thinish black beer or dark brown. Aroma is roasted malt and cocoa. Taste is toasty, and ash, centinnial provides a nice floral perfume, nice bitter and dry, dusty finish. Great stout

Bottle (4.8% ABV). Black body with a dense beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee and plum. Flavour of red grape and caramel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I love a Kernel dark beer - I think they're better than the pales and IPAs.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a light but pleasing tang. Smooth light fruity coffee, a modest bitterness. Dark marmaladey orange peel on the close. Leaves a slight bitter linger. Creeps up on you with it’s Kernel quality.

(Draught at Mother Kelly's, Bethnal Green, London, 23 Nov 2018) Black colour with brief, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, citrus and pine needles. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with dark chocolate, cacao, black coffee, ashes, grapefruit, pine needles and a generous citric/piney bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty and well made with a fresh hop character. Very nice.
