Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy black, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, dark honey, butterscotch, vanilla cream, mocha, pistachio, cashew, nutmeg. Taste has sweetish fig & plum in a dark-honeyish, dark-fudgy, chocolatey malt body; some toated peanut & pistachio on the side. Earthy hoppy finish, nutty, lingering dark honey but not exaggerated, softly warming liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Delicately balanced overall, recommended.

Keg at Anchor Tap, Croxley, Hertfordshire. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, roasty, malty, chocolate, caramel, vanilla taste and aroma. I can just about detect the nuts in this. A rather delicious rich tasting stout.

Draught keg from Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Dark brown and opaque with a thin beige/khaki head. Sweet on the nose with pistachio ice cream and light notes of black liquorice coming through. Taste is sweet as well, just a fraction short of sickly, with a touch of hoppy bitterness I the first ish. Velvet smooth body with carbonation at a minimum. Ace.

Can from Hoptimism. Deep chocolate brown to black colour with a brown head. Aroma and taste are roasted malty. Light sweet honey and nutty slight bitter chocolate. Full body.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours pitch black, with a good tan topping. Fairly sweet, oily, with mild, barely discernible honeycomb notes, quite chocolatey and a touch viscous. Fine, but expected more pistachio and honeycomb presence.

Brownish black body and okay lighter beige foam. Okay milk stout aroma, hazelnut maybe, but a pretty standard sweet stout smell. Taste is chewy chocolate and honey, sweet nut maybe, lingering honey sweetness and some chewy chocolate. Warm nutty finish too. Pretty good.
