0.75 l bottle opened at the Goblet Beer Store, thanks. Clear golden, small lasting off-white head. Aroma is lightly fruity, apricot, almond, vanilla, hints of cheese and white grapes. Light sourness, lightly meaty, lightly fruity. Light body, soft carbonation, soft texture, intense phenolic bitterness, lots of rough spices.

750 c&c from Tavour. Loud cork pop. Pours slightly translucent gold with a huge foamy white head. Aroma has that slightly sour aroma as expected. Med body. Dry and slightly sour. Mixed bacteria. None stands out. Might be a bit lactic. I have no idea how to describe the flavor, except to say it is delicious geuze. It is certainly funky, sour and a bit barnyard, but all in a very smooth tasty way. Excellent ale. Quite approachable.

Mycket gott

This year's treat from HORAL with the biennial Toer de Geuze in mind, a geuze blended from lambic by Boon, Timmermans, De Cam, De Troch, Herberg, Lindemans, Tilquin, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel and newcomers Lambiek Fabriek and Kestemont - indeed a 'mega' collaboration again and interestingly so, since 3 Fonteinen and Girardin opted out of HORAL membership some years ago. Cream white, very thick and foamy, irregular, frothy head on an initially clear, deep yellow-golden robe with a whirlwind of sparkling, turning misty with sediment. Aroma of dusty attic, old dried lemon peel, dried green apple, raw cucumber, strong old oak wood, unripe orange, wood sorrel, kefir, unripe nectarine, redcurrant, green plum, dandelion leaf, horse stable, bitter garden weeds (De Troch piercing through - but not overwhelmingly so). Crisp, tart onset, very fruity-estery with notes of gooseberry, strong unripe plum, Granny Smith apple and lime, lively carbonated with pronounced minerally effects; smooth, supple body, lovely yoghurty lactic sourness in a 'malse' way through a bready backbone, carrying onwards that green fruitiness and a lemon peel-like bitterness, which becomes a bit more 'weedy' in the end. Lots of tannic woodiness in the finish, but a bright green fruitiness remains dominant, with echoes of green apples and plums even almost drowning out all that wood. Mild Bretty horsestable effects set in retronasally while a thin lemony streak keeps everything refreshing and supple. A beautifully balanced, perfectly finetuned textbook 'oude geuze', ticking all the boxes in this genre, classical as it may be. Absolutely loved it - my mouth begins to water just reminiscing about it.

Towering, very dense white head, stable, fed by lively carbonated veiled orange beer. Farmyard nose, old wet wood, saddlesoap, horses, leather, lemonrind, lactic acid. Lemony, lactic acid, leather, buttermilk, unripe exotic fruit and unripe strawberries. Light body due to acidthinning, mild acidburn, very well carbonated. Excellent malse gueuze, impressive blending.

Bottle. Nice to see more and more names on these Horal bottles. Open with a loud bang, very lively. Aroma: Hay, gooseberry, rural funk. Taste: Mix of hay, old hop, rural funk, wheat, citrus fruit, moderate tartness, oak wood and hints of vanilla. Medium body, average carbonation Nice. Still young...

Bottle from HoTM. It pours a lovely golden - yellow with a thick, fluffy Mr Whippy style head. The aroma is dry, dusty, musty, dry oak, splash of white wine vinegar, redcurrant, sweaty, hay, deep funk and some old fermenting citrus. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, some sharpness, tart, light acidity, puckering, vibrant, zesty, lemon - lime, tart white wine, gooseberry, musty, granny smith apple, oak, some tannin, deep funk, damp hay and a touch of nuttiness with a drying finish. Medium body and high, fluffy carbonation. Very nice, but feels quite young tbh. Hopefully will develop from here.
