This Barley Wine is a result of the frinedhsip between Hoppy People in Switzerland and De Struise Brouwers in Belgium. It matured for 28 months in Provins wine barrels in a mountain gallery inside the Grande Dixence, the biggest dam in Europe and tallest gravity dam in the world.
The beer you're now holding in your hands was then transferred and aged again in different wine barrels for another 14 months, ultimately double-barrel aged for a total of 42 months

Solid evening sipper. Deep amber pour and a fine aroma. Smal tan head Fine sweetness for a beer like this and an oily texture. Fruity, some yeast, oak and a bit vinous flavor. [Bottle from Mjorud Travel]

Bottle from La Mise en Bière, carried by mon chou; brewed at Hoppy People
Blond colour. Aroma of candies, glue, toffee. It's boozy, vanilla barrel character, but the beer has ittle to offer; it just reminds me of why I don't favour Golden Barley Wines.

330ml @ Ryan's. Hoppy People / Struise version from Switzerland. Appearance: hazy pale copper with a white head. Aroma: oxidized, toffee, caramel, no barrel character detected. Taste: along the same lines, pretty bitter. Overall: wondering when the Europen guys will finally find out how to do proper BA beers.

Hazy, pale tan. Thin bubbly head. Has soft malts, sweet, has a light stone fruit character. Has a bit of rich malt note, certainly some alcohol, and ultimately it's not bad but a bit too much of those high alcohol notes for my taste.

Riverside Beer Fest 22. Aroma is earthy with a boozy edge and dark fruit. Opaque amber. Big foamy white head. Dark fruits and molasses. Sweet. Bitter boozy edge - more evident in the finish. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Boozy but easy drinking.

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Lots of wood in the aroma and the taste with notes of orange zest, sugar syrup and some cloves. Wood is very pronounced, at the same time it's a very decent brew.

Bottle. Color: Amber, fadt disappearing off-white head. Aroma: Malty, red wine notes. Taste: Malty, vinuous red wine notes, oak notes. Sweetish, bit sugary. Boozy. Over moderate to medium sweet, light bitterness. Warming mouthfeel. Full body, below average carbonation. Dry-ish finish, boozy and quite some tannins. Nice.

clear golden colour, medium sized, dense, yellowish ecru head, which lasts for quite a few minutes; aroma of grape juice, soy sauce, yeast extract, dried apricot, grape peel, and some earthy-wine cellary notes; taste of dired fruity (mainly apricot), red wine, soy sauce, hoppy bittery, vanilla, slight acetone-ish and spicy alcoholic notes; good one
