440ml can from Benny’s place, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a mostly clear medium amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty, light mineral citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a fresh, warm, smooth, dry, yeasty, toffee treacle, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Can. Adnams Cellar, Holt. Soft haze on a copper colour. Slim clingy white head. Sweet fruity caramel malt. Background citrus hop. Touch of spicy hop. Whiff of tea. Taste is biscuit sweet up front with a generous spicy leafy bitterness. Smooth and tasty. Lingering bitterness to finish. Cracking bitter.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Clapton Craft. Pours clear, rich copper-gold with a dense, frothy yellowish head. Light sweet flavour with notes of toasted leaves, sun-kisses grains, a little earth, bread crust. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, more leafy hops, earth, dried leathery berries. Tasty stuff.

This is what a beer should look like. Clear amber, just a little carbonation, thick white head., Smells malty with a little zest and something sweet. Flavour has a bunch of malt in there up front, a bit of biscuit, light hop, just a dash of zesty sweetness and pine. Good body and a nice lasting bitterness. I love it when I get my hands on a bitter by brewers who know what a bitter should/can be when there are so many average ones knocking about. They don't add much to this that you wouldn't get ordinarily, it's just a very good version of the style.

440ml can. Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, malts. Taste of toffee, caramel, nutty/biscuity malts, fruity esters, drying in the finish with a lingering bitterness. Medium bodied. Solid ESB, bet it was lovely on cask.
