2nd February 2020
Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan. Smooth and fairly light and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Unsweet toffee streaked malts. Ripe fruits, very ripe. Touch of wet wood. A bitterish floral streak on the back end with watery brandy. A curious affair, complex and tasty but doesn't quite sing.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark brown colour with late awakening, small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, malty aroma, notes of caramel, molasses, treacle, malt lozenge. Taste is slightly dry, minimally bitter hoppy and sweet-ish malty, slightly disguised notes of caramel, malt lozenge, treacle, molasses; well hidden alcohol, lingering bitter, minimally papery, hoppy finish.

On tap at Oproer. Dark ruby-brown to black colour, beige head. Aroma of candy, dark malts, dark fruits, liquorice, forest fruits, alcohol. Flavour is sweet, malty, candy, dark fruits, alcohol, caramel, sticky, bittersweet finish. Full bodied. Decent but lacks depth imho.

Tap. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is toffee, gummy bears. Taste is toffifee, gummy bears, fudge, lightly resinous, jammy raisins. Oily mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Quite balanced for a Barley Wine!

Dunkler, süß-säuerlicher Beginn mit leichtem Holz, alkoholisch. Trocken herb-malzig, leider nicht genügend Tiefgang. Würzig malzig, mittellanger Nachhall. Okay. 9/9/9/8//8

Bottle @ home. Dark brown color wth a red-brown glare, medium sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, a bit earthy, some sweet notes, leaves, light malt bitter. Decent body, average to decent carbonation. Hmm not convinced.

On tap at Brewberry Bar Paris. Hazy dark brown colour thin tan head. Some sweet barley wine character sweet caramel is pleasant. It's pretty good. Lovely sweet fudge flavour. Touch of blackcurrant fruit. Some sour hoppiness on the finish. Good.
