Keg at Lady Greys, Newcastle. Thought I'd get this in honour of the weather. Pissing down. Light golden, hazy with a full but quickly dissipating white head. Lots of tropical fruit on the aroma, especially pineapple and melon, plus some apricot and white grapefruit in smaller quantities. Taste is a little herbal, some grassy notes against the intense hop. Papaya, overripe tangerine. Bitterness suddenly asserting itself in the finish. Light body,carbonation on the heavy side. It's pretty good.

Can at home picked up from Fuss Club. A transluicent golden orange coloured pour with a big ol' rocky white head. Aroma is big dank grassy hop, weed, soft wheat, bready. Flavour is composed of soft bready wheat, danky weedy hop, grass, little green fennel, firm grassy bitterness. In no way is this west coast. Defo more east coast. Palate is soft and fluffy, fizzy carbonation,

440ml can. Very hazy golden, big white head. Aroma of grapefruit, peaches. Taste of grapefruit, peach, lemon, tropical fruits, some rather light and gentle piney bitterness. Medium bodied with relatively heavy carbonation. This is nice but... west coast? Really? A weird one to rate because while I actually rather enjoyed the beer, it seems be a poor interpretation of the style. Why is it so hazy? Where's the bitterness? Where's the typical piney, resinous hop flavour that's basically a hallmark of the style? And what exactly did Track contribute here? Their own westies are brilliant, always crystal clear and having plenty of bitterness. Honestly, Burning Sky is not a brewery I'd have expected to produce such an odd subversion of the style.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from BS online. Pours cloudy pale gold with a billowing, frothy pure white head. Light-medium sweet flavour, fairly dank, notes of lemon peel, pale malts, a lit ripe tropical bite, nips of pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes lightly dank, but if cat pee, lemon peel, melon, grass. Interesting stuff and fairly tasty if not entirely cohesive.

Can. Burning Sky online. Hazed pale yellow gold. Thin fairly dense lasting sticky white foam. Doesn’t look very West Coast. Nose has orange peel and resin. Clean malt sweetness. Bit of an estery thing in there. Nicely bitter throughout although any sweetness comes across a bit milky. Lingering bitterness to finish. Doesn’t work as intended. Track got involved innit.
