Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Elusive online. Pours a fetching clear gold with a bubbly, white topping. Light-medium sweet with notes of sun-baked pale malts, piney bitterness, a suggestion of caramel and ripening orange. Light bodied with average carbonation. Super clean finish, bit of grass and dried pine. Excellent.

Can from Hop Locker 1, Southbank. Aroma has resin and spice. Opaque amber. Thick fluffy foamy white head. Medium-heavy bitter. Resinous. Spice. As per aroma. Underlying hints of fruit. As I drink on the bitterness intensifies. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Crisp.

Can direct from the brewery. It pours clear golden with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, sweet, oily orange, peach, tangerine, marmalade, sherbet and some green sappy pine. The taste dry, really rather bitter which lingers, green, pine needles, sappy, resinous, touch raw, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, bitter orange, campari, peppery spice, slightly soapy and some floral accents with a drying finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Perhaps a touch raw on the taste due to the punchy bitterness. Decent anyhow.

Cask at The Ealing Beer Festival 2023, Ealing, London. A hazy golden/orange/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, orange, pine, tropical fruit taste and aroma. Quite an interesting pale ale, nice one.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy deep golden body with a white tick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of papery malt and apricot. Flavour of mint, cigarette butt and a bitter, steely finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I wanted to love this but it’s not great - it’s just papery, dry and not at all like the other Elusive beers I’ve enjoyed.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading] A bright golden amber pour with a loose white head; aroma of resinous hops and caramel; sharp and bitter in the mouth from the start with full on fresh green hops that give an oily coating to the mouth, then a smooth caramel malt body; and long lingering bitterness from the hops. Excellent.
