Reviewed from notes.
Can to mug.
Appearance: soft golden yellow color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: campfire smoke, sweet woodiness, then the sweet side of bacon smoke but less bacon-like and some hay/straw notes at the end
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine smoky sweet and semi-earthy sweet character; finishes woody smoky sweet with an ever so slight pinch of dryness
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, nice rolling smoothness along the tongue
Overall: great smoked lager well worthy of returning to.

Pale and a bit of haze. Thin head. Nice beech smoke and hints of sweet malt. On the palate, the malt is actually dryish, a bit biscuity. Lots of beech smoke. The malt I would say needs a bit more sweetness to balance. So it's okay; you can tell it's not Franconian because it's got a bit of harshness, from a bit of smoke/residual sugar imbalance, but it's not bad.

16 oz. can, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma has a real nice campfire smokiness upfront and dry bready malt. Flavour is a nice honeysuckle character along with light-to-moderate smokiness. There's a touch more residual sweetness than I'd want, but I like the malt character a lot here. This is very nice.

16 ounce can from Bottle King in Princeton, NJ. Medium gold pour. Fluffy white head. Bready malt aroma has a subtle smokiness. Delicate bready malt flavor is accented by a rich smoky notes. There is a herbal, honeyish character to this tasty brew. An outstanding effort!

Pint can. pours a clear golden color with a small white head that soon dissipates. The aroma is light to medium in strength with smoke and bread grains. The taste is more of the same, smoked malts with some breads, some fruit, and a bit of bitter pine. The palate is light and crisp with lively carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering smoke. Overall: decent smoked beer. paired well with some pretzels. Helles is usually one of my least favorite beer styles, but smoking seems to work rather well.

Brewery draught, 6/15/24. Unfiltered bronze. Small, white head, slowly to partial cover. Crusty bread and old wood smoke, but in an endearing way. Bit of herbal hop, even. vT doesn't have much aroma?? Guess again. This is snappy, clean, malty and balanced. Deliciously malty, brightly herbal, with dry woodsmoke and a bit of hickory. So malty and well-attenuated. Clean and flavorful, very balanced, very crisp.
