Enjoyed at the Hull pub, pouring a dark brown with hardly any highlights, no head, nor lacing. Roasted malt base aromas with some nice chocolate notes, light alcohol coming out with time. Hints of nuttiness, wood and soy sauce. Roasted malt taste with decent bitterness, light nuttiness, more like nut shells, hints of cacao, a touch of Cognac and Bourbon alcohol. Mildly, thick, oily mouthfeel, but finishes quickly dry, not leaving a syrupy feel. Quite an easy-drinking Imperial Stout with nothing really sticking out - so, all well-blended.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some woody bourbon and Cognac notes are also noticeable. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some woody bourbon and Cognac notes with some light vanilla notes and faint residual sugar notes. Body is full with oily texture with good carbonation with some alcohol notes that are discernible. Heavy barrel-aged stout with great complexity and flavors.
