Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, it’s a brown ale with aromas of gooseberries, pine, toasted malt and caramel, and on the palate there’s brown sugar balanced with a fresh bitterness alongside orange and fresh bread notes.
Enjoy on its own or pair with grilled red meats or hard cheeses.
Malts: Pale ale malt, brown malt, crystal malt, oats

On tap at Suds & Soda, Derby (at £5.50 a third !), Pours almost black with minimal cream head. There’s chocolate, raisins and alcohol in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and smoothy with a creamy teture. Alcohol to thefore again in the flavour, alongside milky coffee, coconut and hints of dark fruits and ginger Finish is dry and peppery. It’s very nice and dangerpously drinkable – but I’m not sure it’s worth the price I paid for it !
