From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Fischer d’Alsace Bitter". Deep amber gold color. Thick creamy white head. Sweet perfumy bouquet, is fresh and aromatic. Initially, a sweet toasted malt flavor pervades. Flavor becomes nominally bitter with a hint of fruitiness. Light clean hop finish. Well balanced and flavorful.

Bottle; nose of grain, grass, and a sour fruit note; gold with a small white head; flavor is grainy with some sour carmel, and some hops for a finish. Not that great!

(Bottle 65 cl) Beautiful, warm, fully golden beer with a dense, clinically white head. But unfortunately this looks a lot better than what you get in your mouth. Basically this is just a standard lager with a wee bit more bittering hops. That’s it. 140403

Bottle, from Hy-Vee liquor store, Ames, IA. An attractive green swing-top bottle makes me favorably disposed toward this brew, though I know this could make it a bit skunky. Yet upon pouring it offers a big bitter aroma, a bit skunky indeed, but not off-putting. Color is pale yellow, with a slight haze, and a frothy head. After getting a noseful of bitterness, the first taste is actually somewhat sweet. Despite low ABV, it’s actually rather warming. Taste becomes bitter as you go further down, then brings out some dryness and finally a touch of champagne. Hop bill goes straight for the bitterness, with a little pepper. I dunno, I just liked this.

Pretty clear bottle, light/hazy yellow/pale color, looks quite nice. Good white head, smells of wet towels, wet hay and a slightly sweet grassy hops. I didnt get that much bitterness out of it. On the finish there is a nice light hops bitterness, but overall it tastes like a fairly plain dry malt, mostly watery and light bodied. My friend said, "Why would you buy that? It tastes like Coors light." And while not that bad, it's not that amazing either.

Yes, it is bitter. But that's it. Not a lot of hop flavour or aroma to match the bitterness; not a lot of malt to legitimize it; and not a lot of body to carry it.
