Very dark coloured body with a brown tint when on an angle. Small tan head with some bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of fresh hops, roasted malt, strong peanuts and some light nutmeg. Medium-bodied; Super strong nuttiness throughout with some malt and a funky vegetable taste all the way. Aftertaste shows more of the peanut bitterness with a bunch of spices and a bad taste in the palate. Overall, a strong nut brown that has been dry hopped and some light other flavours. Overall, not a great beer...they really shouldn’t make this batch again - try something new! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased in a sampler twelve pack from Harris Teeter in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 08-April-2006.

Brown ale with a thin off white head. Sweet butterscotch aroma with light treacle and honey. In mouth, crisp and sweet, with buttery mouthfeel. Lighter bodied. On tap at the CNY Brewfest 2006.

Dark pour with a thick rocky head. Malty aroma. Quite thin for a scottish ale. The flavor isnt far from what a scottish ale should be.

2005 bottle consumed on 11/11/2005. Smells like coffee cake and walnuts. Strong ringwood yeast, buttercreamy goodness (or not). Magenta-auburn tinged body with a head that immediately recedes to a ring. Light cherries and dates and almost a pinch of cocoa powder. No hops apparency in the nose. Flavor - Moderate amount of diacetyl, more dry coffee cake, short finish, very loose texture. Light fruitiness from the nose and not a dominance by the diacetyl in flavor. But the high filtration is as evident as always, with the CO2 breaking up any semblance of a cohesive mouthfeel. Creamy, sweet malt is not very complex. Some light, light blackberry notes. Little to no hops flavor, just a touch of floral bitterness at most. No alcohol apparency. Prickly carbonation. Watery, medium-light body. Retronasal has brown bread and salt. No lacing. The wateriness drudges on. . . .
