[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A murky chestnut brown pour with a ring of white head; aroma of raisins and sugar; rather thin and sugary at first with a hint of spice; then a dry finish with lingering treacle.

Bottle from Redh. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Beige head. Nose - shortbread and a dirty caramel note. Taste - dried fruits and spice. Again more of a dirty caramel than the molasses coming through. Palate - medium bodied, sweet middle with still some sweetness on the finish. Overall - decent.

Cask at GBBF. It pours clear brown with minimal head. The aroma is sweet, oily, brown bread, treacle, wood, leather and caramel. The taste is slick, sweet, oily, chewy, toothy, leather, spice, tannin, toothy and chewy malt with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Old school and chewy not bad.

7th August 2018
GBBF Day 1. Cask. Hazy reddish amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth semi dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Light and tangy malts, mildly sweet. Slighty earthy note and some mildly sourish bruised fruits. Pinch of spice. Semi dry finish shows some low level esters. Amusing.

Bottle at home. Bought at Bourne Valley Farm Shop. Malty nuts and chocolate aroma, with something yeasty in the shadows. Tempted to describe it as treacle brown. Creamy, if thin, off-white head. Quite bitter. Also develops sourness. Light bodied with soft carbonation. OK but the taste is not quite right, as if it was left too long in the oven or such like.
