Can on the train from Bingoham to Crewe, thanks to Dave, 07/12/19. Murky orange to light amber with a well presented lasting egg shell white head. Nose is orange peel, yeast esters, stale bread, light spice, stewed fruits, spruce tones, light caramel. Taste comprises fruit cake, prunes, yeast esters, herb, straw, spice, dates. Medium bodied plus, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost. Solid.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Beer Ritz. Pours hazy deep orange with a frothy, off-white head. Lovely beer, really takes me back to 2009 when I drank a bunch of stuff like this, the original Pretty Things Jack D'Or, Ommegang Hennepin, probably other classically styled strong saison gear. This has lovely esters and yeast expression, citrus fruits, peel, a bit of grassy bitterness, wheat bread. Medium to full bodied with massaging carbonation. Finishes with nice bready character, some husky grains and grass, a little cereal, more, broad yeast notes, citrus fruits, nips of marmalade. A grassy bitter aftertaste really cleans it all up. Great beer.

Can from Wine Rack, Burpham. Funky floral aroma with spice and caramel. Cloudy amber. Thick foamy white head. Sour with a bitter core and spice. Gains a dose of sweetness into the finish. Light-medium bodied. slick. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. This is very soon out of the fridge and am also going to let it warm upna bit because presently I'm finding it to be quite sickly. Now that it's less cold the sweetness is still there but in balance. Nice enough but the taste is just not particularly doing it for me.

29/8/2019. Keg at The Fat Gadgie, Carlisle. Pours hazy dark amber with a good size firm off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, orange, sweet malt, herbs, yeast, bread, berries, hint of ripe banana and brown sugar. Quite sweet, low bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Good brew.

Can from Beer Zoo. It pours hazy deep orangey amber with thick foamy white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky orange, tangerine, raspberry, fruit coulis, berry compote, funk, sherbert, nougat, sponge cake and spice. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, pithy, orange peel, tangerine, marmalade, spicy, clove, nougat, cereal, oiliness, raspberry, cherry drops, touch of tartness, sponge cake, metallic twang, wet and deep funk character with drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Good depth of flavour. Moreish and quaffable. I rather like it.

Can, picked up at the brewery. Also multiple pours at the brewery. Pale copper colour. Soft haze. Thin, dense white head lasts and is semi lacing. Nose has spicy hop leaf. Dried vine fruit. Peppery herb. Bready grain. Candy sugar. Lightly estery. Some funk. Taste is fruited loaf sweet. Some punchy bitterness. More of the herbal character. Medium body. Pretty oily. Foamy carbonation. Lingering, fruity bitterness to finish. Good, although I preferred the first St Mars version by some margin.
