Hefeweizen. This refreshing Bavarian style wheat beer is a real Bad Seed. It was one of the first beers to break the Reinheitsgebot, the strict German purity laws. Rules about beer are silly, and we love the delicious taste of rebellion.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is grainy sweet malt, yeast banana. The flavour is acidic citrus with a crisp fresh malt, yeast, dry spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Fresh, crisp and fruity.

Bottle from Tap and Barrel, Wigston. Deep orange/gold and clear (I've not poured the sediment in). Orange peel, touches of coriander and clove, yeast roll in the aroma. Sweet tangy taste, but there's a finish bordering on tart. More sweet spice and some banana in the aftertaste. Delicious.

Cask at Reading Beer Festival. Murky golden-brown with a thick white head. Lots of orange and brown bread, a little banana, a touch of grass and a hint of clove in the aftertaste. I don’t often like wheat beers but this one is pretty tasty.

Fresh smooth beginning. sourish hints, grainy watery body. Only hints of clove in the back, slightly sweetish-soapy. Nothing in common with a German Hefeweizen. Drinkable but strange.

Bottle at home. Bought at Hogs Back Brewery. Pungent citrus, banana and spice aroma. Light gold and hazy. Bright white head - initially super frothy, before ebbing away. Sweet and sour, in fact more of the latter. Real citrus impact. Overpowers the banana and cloves referenced on the (actual small cardboard) label. Light bodied. Watery but also some oilyness to it. Flawed but still enjoy enjoyable.

Bottle at home on 5th June 2016. Pours hazy gold with virtually no head or lacing. Rich zingy lemon aroma. Sharp yeasts and citrus in-mouth, leaving a remotely citric, grassy finish with rear-mouth bitterness and earthy pungency. Light body and mouthfeel.
