Draught @ the Phoenician. Strong, fairly boozy. Lots of hop bitterness, not so much on the aroma side.

Draught at Shady Park, 3/10/18.
Glassy, to slightly cloudy, copper-amber with no head.
Guess this one sat on tap too long? Smells liked over-boiled, old hops, bread, veggies and strong resin.
In the mouth it's fairly dry, at least, though shows too little base malt, tons of specialty malt bread-like character and bitter, vegetal, old, sour hop notes. Resinous and sharp, with spoiled fruit and veggies. Carbonation is low, somewhat loose.

Pours up at AZ Strong Ale Fest 2014 with a murky deep gold body that has a copper core and supports a teeny off white head. The aroma is sweet with malts, a touch of grainy malts and then pine hops where in the background are citrus notes and a touch of onion like dank hoppiness. The taste is sort of interesting and odd at the same time as I get a mix of resiny tangelo and grapefruit as well as sweet mango to go along with sort of an earthy lime, some dank earthy hops and pine hop infused resiny maltiness. As I think of these notes it seems they should be going together but somehow they just aren’t. Maybe the kind of thin body has thrown this off just enough. It is somehow both thin and rich and trying to be more in body than it is. Interesting.
