Can (1/11/24) pour from The Beer Store, Salem. Lightly hazy, gorgeous amber-red with tons of sparkle, nice head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, brown bread, nuts, milder dark fruit. Taste is toasted malt, dark fruit, caramel/roasted marshmallow. Smooth, moderately thick, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Good strength, complexity.

16 oz can. Deep red / borderline brown in color. Aroma is molasses, fig, earthy grain. Flavor is similar with the addition of dark bread and some dark fruit. Overall a good amount of flavor and true to the style. Above average for sure.

Can drunk 7/14/21.
Clear mahogany with ruby highlights and a beige head that shows moderate retention.
Nose is pretty tame without too much melanoidin/dark fruit. Mostly malty with milk chocolate and plentiful breadiness. Caramel and very light spice linger on the finish. No alcohol or flaw noted.
Surprisingly light-bodied for the style. It's not thin or watery or anything, and perhaps I'm just used to more melanoidin-like acidity, but this one is primarily chocolate-caramel-forward with sweetness and bready, biscuity malts for balance. Mostly engaging, low carbonation and hints of plum and red wine. Extremely drinkable and good attenuation with no flaw or alcohol.

Clear caramel copper-brown body, thin to medium cream head. Nose mostly toasted malts and brown sugar. Crisp, well-attenuated body, toasty, with brown sugar, toffee, hints of ashy coffee, and a woody bite. A different take on the style, minus the heavy prune or raisin elements.

16oz can pours a translucent garnet amber with some creamy, filmy off white head. Nose has dates, cloves, malt, some pumpernickel and caramel. Flavor has all that, caramel and candy, clove, allspice, dates, raisins. The breadiness is a bit lost. Finishes off dry, fruity. Very dialed in and restrained.

Pours bright clear mahogany into a stem glass. Tan head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet molasses and brown bread aromas. Soft with toffee and molasses upfront turning to toasted brown bread in the medium length finish.
