Clear pale gold with a frothy / creamy white head and a cereal and hops aroma. Creamy smooth with citrus hop bitterness and soft cereal malt sweetness nicely balanced, finishes dry with soft bitterness.

On tap (cask) at the Orange Tree, Hereford, Wednesday 15th October 2025 after a train journey down from my dad's, Derby today. Pours dark gold/light amber with a large creamy textured white head. Nicely bitter, but with a good fruity edge throughout and some solid rustic hoppiness, it describes itself as a light English IPA. I like it, nice beer.

Half-pint, cask ale at Prince of Wales. Many thanks to the barman for this one. A misty pale golden body, covering white head, spotty lacing. Promising smell of fruity hops, citrus moments to the fore. Mixed taste character of oily hops, citrus, and bread-like malts. Satisfying piney bitterness to the finish. Decent. On cask at Old Bull's Head, Gornal - hazy yellow body with a lasting white top. Biscuity, cereal kind of malt vibe. Bit of a bitterness at the back. Decent one but not one to use as a session.

Pint, hand-pulled in the Railway Tavern, Newport Shropshire on 9th December 2024. Light golden body, clean and clear, white crust. Easy drinking IPA, neither malty nor hoppy, just a pleasant blend of the two without any citrus notes.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Pours mid-gold and clear with a small white head. Light astringent hop on the aroma with light berry and a grassy element. Taste is... my word this is nice. Sweet at first, laden with light fruit, with a perfectly judged bitterness at the end of the sip. Very soft carbonation. The best Black Country beer I've had by a country mile.

Cask at the Queens Head, Stourbridge. Pours bright gold with a medium head. Aroma is sweet hedgerow fruits. Taste has grainy straw and hedgerow fruit with a fruity bitter finish.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours pale straw with a sizeable foamy almost white head and excellent lacing. There’s floral hops and citrus in the aroma. In the mouth it starts off slightly sharp but with a smooth and creamy texture. Fruity hops are to the fore in the flavour, with dollops of stone and tropical fruit evident. Later on it becomes quite bitter with hints of lemon, pine and mango leading to a bitter and slightly sticky finish. This is a decent old style IPA – better than most BCA beers.
