Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Pours lightly hazed gold with a frothy, white head. Has dried pale grains in the nose, husk. Lightly sweet with a mild plastic note, more pale grains. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some bitter dirty hay, lemon peel. So so.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. Slow foamy gusher. It pours hazy golden with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, bready, brioche, sugary, orange juice, slightly sticky, tang and wood. The taste is bitter – sweet, brioche, tangy, fruity, earth, straw, hay, grass, gooseberry, touch of citrus leather, straw, tannin, alcohol warmth and oak with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Doesn’t really come together harmoniously and is a bit hot. A fairly standard English Strong Ale.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Light haze on this gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Softish malts, mildly sweet. Little ripe orange, tangy. Mild floralness and spice. Light finish leaves a mild bitter linger. Standard stuff.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s and Ruth pre GBBF shindig, August 5, 2017. Orange, just a bit cloudy. Very nice matured nose, bit sourish, cherries. Taste is a bit less sour, if actually sour at all. Some brett, slight cheese, decent bitterness and relatively light body. Interesting and bitterness is distinct. Really loving the nose but finish falls a bit flat.
