500ml bottle from Trader Joes Bakersfield. Nose is ripe bananas, sweet caramel, and a hint of molasses. Clear redwood brown with a medium, heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is slightly sweet with moderate molasses. Actually a good dopplebock for 1.99.

Banana and graham cracker nose, some plastic notes. Cloudy copper, thin head. Caramel dominated flavor with apple and berry accents. Not tart. A bit chemical. Light body, fizzy. Kind of cheap, but not awful.

Cool 50cl swing top bottle pours a deep ruby red amber-ish sort of color with a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up raisin, spiced red apple wedges and some hazel nut like nuttiness. The taste is similar as it puts out a mix of raisins, cherries and spiced red apples as well as a bit of roasted malts and nuttiness. Interesting estery and also nearly astringent maltiness at times.

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Sour caramel and pit fruit aromas. Soft with dark caramel and sweet toffee upfront turning to pit fruit before the lasting stale malt finish.

Pours a dusty gold color under a tall, off-white head. The aroma is slightly sweet and floral. The flavor is sweet on the front with some bitterness towards the back. Maybe a hint anise in there.

500 ml ceramic swing-top bottle from Trader Joe’s. Rich orange copper color topped by a medium sized foamy beige head. Caramel grainy toasted malt nose. Bittersweet dried fruit malt flavor. Herbal hops with notes of raisins and alcohol. Sweetish candi sugar prescence? Interesting and different.

Half liter swingtop from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a large fizzy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of floral notes, stone fruits, citrus and caramel. The taste is caramel malts, candied fruits and very faint hops. Medium bodied, a little one note and too sweet.

Bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a small off-white / beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, caramel, vegetal notes, biscuity malts - very German smell. Flavour of bananas, clove, toasted nuts, toffee and some vegetal notes. Thin palate with not much complexity. Not too bad though.

500ml corked bottle, Trader Joes action. Amber-tan, thin steady creaky off-white head. Sweet, nutty caramel aroma, cheap and unpleasant. Completely unspectacular, this tastes like a cheap Eastern European beer. Sweet malt tones, underlying pungent yeast tones, but pretty subdued. I feel like a jerk for paying 5 bucks for this Italian fraud.
