Corked and caged bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Rilester for obtaining this one for me over in CA, 09/12/13. Murky dark mahogony brown with a thin light beige covering. Nose is booze laden, toffee, treacle, spice, nutty leanings, dark fruit tang. Taste comprises bitter dark fruits, toffee, banana, yeast esters, strong booze load. Full bodied, fine carbonation, hot boozey closure. Ok - drinkable but glad not to be taking on this bottle on my own, a little unblanced and hot.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild carbonation. Little airy malt cream and malt sweetness. Touch of jammy fruits. Alcohol bite. Semi dry finish. A little messy but fine.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky deep brown with a small tan head. The nose is candy, blackcurrant, stewed berry, Xmas pudding, jam, spice and leather. The taste is sweet, jammy berry, blackcurrant, spice, toffee, earth, some alcohol and bread with a dry finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Lots of jammy berry action going on. A bit sweet for liking, but alright.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - thanks to Colin. Pours mostly clear brown with a creamy tan head. Some burnt bread in the nose, leathery fruits, hints of spicy pine. Light sweet flavor with faintly tangy dried berries, a bit of dry yeast, bread, toast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat dry on the finish with leathery berries, dry bread, dry wood. Not bad.

Thanks beershine! Dark brown, almost with reddish accents. The aroma has deep, dark fruits and lots of malt sugars. Almost a smokey accent and even chocolate. Sweet palate, a little tart, with chocolate notes first, plus some fruit. Between the spices and alcohol it dries out a bit in the finish. Fun beer, the spices are fairly subtle. I might even get a little huajiao numbing in the finish, though certainly not to the extent of something like Honey Ma.

750 c&c from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours as dark as brown can get with a large creamy tan head. Aroma is complex, but I can pick out chocolate, dark fruit and some pepper. Full bodied, smooth and near creamy. Per the description the dark fruit is currants, so this is chocolate currant with some definite pepper spice. It’s smooth and rich, but really not all that sweet. This is a great big beer for a cold evening. Not as big as BA IS, but big.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a nice tan head. Dried fruit and caramel aroma with light spice and some alcohol. Caramel and wheat flavor with dried fruit, light spice, and yeast. Medium-plus bodied. caramel/toffee lingers with yeast, wheat, and light banana.
