A Macchiato Porter using Takk NorthProjekt v.7 coffee and a dash of lactose. The espresso profile beans lend a subtle hit of sweet caramel and honeydew on the nose whilst adding a rich depth to the complex cacao malt base. This is a farewell brew from a long serving brewer, Jonny Read, ahead of his move to Sweden.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop Bermondsey and drunk at home. Very dark brown colour lasting beige head. Big coffee aroma. Big toasty coffee flavour. Some creaminess. Light dryness on the finish. Coffee, nut and chocolate. Mouthfeel is a little light but the flavour is pretty good.

Cask @ Cellar, Chester. Pours dark brown, creamy head. Aroma of hazelnut chocolate and coffee roast. Continues to taste with a deliciously nutty mocha character, gently sweet with some additional grain for added texture. Great coffee porter.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. Pours deep brown with a small, fading creamy khaki head. Mellow roast in the nose, some fresh coffee, milk chocolate, burnt grains. Light-medium sweet flavour with smooth, rounded chocolate character, a bit of ash and scorched earth, hints of dried berries, raisins. Medium bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Really well balanced finish, with more mild ashy notes, rounded chocolate, soft roast, old leather. Great stuff.

Can at home, 24/02/18. Black with a lasting tan cap. Nose carries a balanced coffee waft, roast malt, light black peppery spice, charr, cocoa powder, toffee. Taste comprises coffee grinds, chocolate biscuit, light ashen tones, roast malts, toffee crisp, light brown sugar notes, brown bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light dryness in the close. A solid flavoursome porter.

ABV: 5.1%. Cloudy dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, dusty coffee, coffee vegetables. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, coffee vegetables, earthy coffee, green coffee, coffee, dark malt, almost like a cup of cold coffee. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20180125]

Keg at the brewdog shepherds Bush. An opaque mahogany brown coloured pour with a fine whispy tan head. Aroma is nice desecated coconut, dried chocolate, dusty, light ashy roast. Flavour is composed of rich chocolate malts, mellow coconut, light chalky, light bitter roast. Bounty bar. Palate is medium bodied, highish dusty carbonation. Good stuff. Nice lingering chocolate.
